Rajat Joneja is a Partner at KNM & Partners and a key member of the Firm’s Dispute Resolution Practice, with over 17 years of experience in advising and representing clients in complex civil, commercial, and arbitration matters. His expertise spans a diverse spectrum of industries, including construction, engineering, real estate, energy, oil & gas, logistics, banking & financial services, and technology.
Rajat has deep experience in handling domestic and international arbitration proceedings, representing clients in high-stakes disputes under various institutional rules including SIAC, MCIA, and ad hoc arbitrations, seated across India and international jurisdictions. He is particularly adept at handling disputes arising out of construction contracts, concession agreements, joint operating agreements, production sharing contracts, shareholder agreements, and IT/ITES services agreements.
Rajat has successfully represented Indian and foreign corporates, investment funds, and promoters in litigations before the Supreme Court of India, High Courts, National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), and other quasi-judicial forums. He also has considerable experience in writ jurisdiction and constitutional litigation, including challenges to legislative provisions and regulatory actions by State authorities.
Known for his meticulous preparation and strategic advocacy, Rajat is recognized for managing cross-border disputes, complex corporate litigation and arbitration, and insolvency proceedings with commercial sensitivity and legal precision.

Construction & Engineering
- Represented India’s leading construction companies in multiple arbitration proceedings related to hydro-electric, highway, and thermal power projects in India and Bhutan, securing favourable awards.
- Acted for a UK-based oil & gas company in an ad hoc international arbitration in Kuala Lumpur, securing an award under a Joint Operating Agreement in a Production Sharing Contract.
- Advised an Italian oil & gas major on contractual disputes with Indian PSU regarding force majeure and frustration of contract claims under a Production Sharing Contract.
Real Estate & Infrastructure
- Represented clients in litigation concerning project management consultancy contracts, sub-contractor disputes, and litigations initiated by RWAs in relation to large real estate developments.
Insolvency & Bankruptcy
- Acted for an investment fund in NCLT and NCLAT in disputes arising from a debenture subscription with a prominent real estate company.
- Represented both Corporate Debtors and Financial Creditors in insolvency proceedings, including avoidance transaction applications and other related proceedings.
Commercial & Shareholder Disputes
- Acted for an IT/ITES company in arbitration against a Statutory Authority in BOOT-based contract, securing a favourable award.
- Represented clients in SIAC arbitrations concerning shareholder disputes, put option claims, and exit strategies under Shareholders’ Agreements.
- Successfully handled disputes involving freighter wet lease agreements, for a logistic company and secured a favourable award for the client.
- Represented clients in oppression and mismanagement disputes before NCLT, as well as scheme of arrangement approvals and capital restructuring proceedings.
