Vipender Mann brings over 25 years of diverse legal experience to the Firm’s multidisciplinary practice. A recognised name in India’s legal fraternity, Vipender is known for his strategic counsel, courtroom advocacy, and ability to navigate complex regulatory and corporate landscapes. He is widely acknowledged as one of India’s leading voices on Artificial Intelligence Governance, Data Privacy Law, and Regulatory Compliance.
Vipender began his legal journey at the Delhi High Court in 1998, and prior to founding KNM & Partners in 2007, he held leadership roles at renowned law firms. His vision in establishing KNM & Partners was to create a client-centric, solutions-focused law firm capable of delivering cross-sector legal services with precision and business alignment.
He has extensive experience advising on Artificial Intelligence Governance, Data Privacy and Protection, Corporate Governance, Regulatory Frameworks, Litigation, Arbitration, White-Collar Crimes, and Compliance Audits. His expertise is particularly sought-after in corporate criminal defence, risk management, and representing corporations, promoters, and boards in high-stakes investigations and litigation.
He is a certified Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional (AIGP) from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), of which he is also a Member, and holds an Artificial Intelligence Ethics, Regulation and Compliance Programme certificate from Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. He also holds a Privacy Engineering Certificate from Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Computer Science, and is a Certified Artificial Intelligence Ethicist (CAIE) from Oxethica. These credentials uniquely position him at the intersection of law, technology, and ethics.
Vipender has served as de facto Head of Legal for the Indian operations of a leading multinational corporation, where he oversaw end-to-end legal, regulatory, and compliance functions. His experience includes conducting legal and compliance audits for global entities, enabling them to proactively manage risks and meet evolving statutory obligations.
In addition to his corporate practice, Vipender has made significant contributions to international legal benchmarking, including being a long-standing contributor to the World Bank’s Doing Business Report (since 2002) and the World Justice Project’s Rule of Law Index (since 2010). He is a regular speaker and moderator at leading forums on Artificial Intelligence Governance, Data Privacy, and Legal Technology, including the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) National Legal Services Committee, the Indian School of Business Alumni Association, and national and international privacy and governance conferences.
Vipender completed the Post Graduate Programme for Senior Management (PGPMAX) at the Indian School of Business (ISB) in 2023, serving as Cohort Representative. He is a Member of the ISB Alumni Advisory Council, a Member of the CII National Legal Services Committee (2023-24, 2024-25, 2025-26), Vice Chair of the CII Information Technology and Information Technology Enabled Services Sub-Committee (2023-24, 2024-25, 2025-26), and Chair of the CII Consumer Protection and Product Recall Sub-Committee (2024-25).
